Who Can Apply for the Australia Awards Scholarship in Africa?
To qualify for the Australia Awards Scholarship 2026, you must:
- Be a citizen of Nigeria or any eligible African country
- Be aged 25+ by 1 February 2026
- Have at least 5 years of post-graduate work experience
- Currently be employed
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to an Australian undergraduate degree)
- Not already hold or be pursuing a Master’s degree
- Meet English proficiency: IELTS 6.5 overall (no band < 6.0) or equivalent TOEFL/PTE
Note: Applicants must be applying from their country of citizenship, unless working for a regional organisation or diplomatic mission.

Nigeria, Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Application Deadline
The application deadline for the Australia Awards Scholarship is 30 April 2025 (11:59 PM AEST).
Late applications will not be accepted.

- Visit the official Australia Awards Africa website
- Create an account on the OASIS portal and complete the application
- Upload all required documents, including: Valid passport or ID, Academic transcripts and certificates, Updated CV, Proof of English proficiency, Employer and academic references and Personal statement outlining career goals and development impact
- Apply before the deadline
- Await shortlisting and selection communications
