SI Masters Scholarship for Global Professionals in Sweden, 2025

The Swedish Institute offers academic scholarships for master’s studies in Sweden, specifically designed for global professionals from select countries. The SI Swedish Institute Masters Scholarship for Global Professionals seeks to empower future global leaders to advance the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and foster meaningful progress in their home countries and regions.
This scholarship funds full-time master’s studies—lasting one or two years—at several universities across Sweden.
With opportunities spanning a wide range of study fields, the scholarship covers over 700 of the approximately 1,000 English-taught master’s programmes available in Sweden.
By awarding this scholarship, the Swedish Institute aims to build a network of global leaders who champion the Sustainable Development Goals and catalyse transformative development in their home countries.
Eligibility Criteria for the Swedish Institute Scholarship
The scholarship is open for applications once every year, for master’s studies beginning in the autumn semester. To apply you must:
- Be a citizen of one of the 33 eligible countries for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals;
- Apply for a master’s programme that is eligible for the SI scholarship;
- Be liable to pay tuition fees at University Admissions;
- Have demonstrated work experience;
- Have demonstrated leadership experience from a current or previous employer, or civil society engagement.
Scholarship Benefits for the SI Masters Scholarship in Sweden
The Scholarship for Global Professionals is a competitive fully-funded scholarship that includes:
- Full tuition fee coverage. The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university each semester.
- A monthly allowance of SEK 12,000 to cover your living expenses throughout the study period.
- A travel grant of SEK 15,000
- Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP). A platform to help you grow professionally and build a network while in Sweden.
- After the scholarship period, you become a member of the SI Alumni Network. As a member, you get a unique opportunity for continued networking and professional development.

- 15 October 2024 – 15 January 2025: Apply to Swedish master’s programmes through University Admissions before the deadline in January.
- 1 November 2024: SI Scholarship application documents and eligible master programmes are published.
- 10 February – 26 February 2025: Application portal for the SI Scholarship is open.
- 27 March 2025 – University admissions announcement day.
- 24 April 2025: SI Scholarship announcement day.
